I’ve been a pediatric Speech Language Pathologist for 22 years. I received a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders and a Master’s Degree in Speech Language Pathology from Radford University. I have experience working in a variety of settings, including Children’s Hospital of Richmond VA, Infant Toddler Connection of Virginia, and public schools. While working in the public school setting I had the opportunity to provide speech therapy services in early childhood special education classrooms and self-contained elementary school classrooms for children with multiple disabilities. Throughout the course of my career, my most important teachers have been the children I’ve had the privilege to work with. Among the many things I’ve learned throughout these years is that
EVERY CHILD has something to say.
I consider it one of my greatest honors to be able to guide a child in their communication journey.
In addition to providing traditional articulation, phonological and language therapy to children, I enjoy working with children with complex communication needs. I have extensive advanced continuing education in the area of Augmentative Alternative Communication. I have completed the LAMP training (Language Acquisition through Motor Planning) through the Center for AAC and Autism. I have experience with completing AAC evaluations and conducting therapy that focuses on the use of AAC. I am familiar with the ever changing technology that is available to our AAC users and enjoy helping a child find an AAC system that is best matched to their individual needs.
